Pedro Rodrigues was born 27th of June in 1970 in Lisbon, Portugal. He started his training in Chinese Martial Arts in 1984 and during a seminar in Paris in 1992 met Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, initiating a relationship which would change the course of his life.
He decided to become a Yang’s Martial Arts Association Instructor, committing himself for more than a decade of seminars, daily training, and tests. To achieve his goal he traveled to France, Poland, USA and Hungary. To ensure a consistent learning process, Portugal school became a regular stop for Dr. Yang’s European tours.
In 1997, he was nominated President of Ymaa Portugal and in 1998 together with his martial arts brothers, he established Yang’s Martial Arts Association Portugal (AAMYP), non-profit organization, by law representing YMAA in Portuguese national territory.
He reached the Shaolin Assistant Instructor level in that year and the same level in Taijiquan in 2000. In 2005, he became the fourth Shaolin Instructor of this international organization and in 2007 he reached the same degree in Taijquan. During the same year, he achieved the Assistant Instructor level in Qigong and Qin Na.
Pedro has dedicated over a decade to the practice and teaching of Gongfu, Taijiquan and Qigong. As a teacher, he has been involved in many different areas, such as: martial arts, sports, health and theater.
Ymaa Portugal offers regular classes in Shaolin Kungfu, Taijiquan and Qigong in the following cities in Portugal: Amadora, Almada, Cascais, Lisbon and Sintra.
It also promotes two annual seminars (autumn and spring) open to all practitioners, approaching specific aspects of training programs and two national seminars (winter and summer) with ranking tests and intensive training.
